What do you focus on?
I want to quickly suggest a solution to violence in our country and around the world. Obviously it involves what we focus on. Instead of focusing on the violence and mayhem in society today, I challenge you to instead focus on those individuals who barely have enough to eat or who suffer from scores of other problems such as birth defects, cancer, and many others. If all of us find it in our heart to empathize with those individuals and what their families have to go through to care for them, I believe our focus on what is really important in life will change. In changing our focus, our insight and understanding will change about violence in the world as we know it. Instead of wasting time and money on perpetuating the problem of local and worldwide violence and discord, maybe we can all re-think our primary purpose and become the part of the solution instead of the problem. Whether we like it or not, when we focus on all the conflict in the world, we lose precious time focusing on rectifying many problems that facilitate spiritual healing. In closing, if all of us focused on helping one another, there would be no time to focus on harming one another.
